NHL: Tampa Bay 2, Toronto 1 (OT)

TORONTO (UPI) -- Ryan Malone connected on a goal 2:21 into overtime Tuesday to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2-1 win over Toronto.

Alex Tanguay's pass found Malone at the far post, where he got his stick on the puck and pushed over the goal line. After a review, officials determined the net did not come off its moorings and the score stood up, giving the Bolts the win.

Vinny Lecavalier also scored for the Lightning, who broke a two-game losing streak and notched their first road win of the season. Antero Niittymaki made 40 saves.

Ian White got the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, who remained winless at home (0-4-2) and fell to 1-7-5 in their first 13 games, Toronto's worst start since 1990-91. The game also marked the debut of forward Phil Kessel, who was acquired from Boston in the off-season but missed the first 12 games with an injury.

Jonas Gustavsson let in two goals on 32 shots for Toronto.
