Cavaliers' West indicted on gun charges
Prince George's County, Md., State's Attorney Glenn Ivey said a grand jury has indicted West on two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, a single count of reckless driving as well as a count of negligent driving, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.
The charges far exceed the two gun-possession charges police leveled at the Cavs player when he was pulled over while allegedly carrying two fully loaded handguns and a shotgun in a guitar case. The newspaper said that one of the dangerous weapons charges was for the shotgun as well as for dozens of shells police say they found in a carrier on West's three-wheeled motorcycle.
Ivey also revealed that West is accused of carrying an 8.5-inch Bowie-style knife when officers arrested him, the Plain Dealer said, adding that if convicted, West could face up to three years for each of the six gun charges as well as fines.
