Joba Chamberlain's mom pleads no contest
Jackie Standley, 44, entered her plea to a charge of delivery of a controlled substance Monday in Lancaster County, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. The plea, which spared her a potential 50-year maximum sentence, has the same effect as a guilty plea.
Judge Karen Flowers scheduled sentencing Dec. 16. She said she expects to get a report from CenterPointe, a treatment center for people who suffer from both mental illness and drug abuse.
Standley was arrested in May. Police said she sold methamphetamine to an undercover investigator at her apartment in South Lincoln in February.
Chamberlain, being used as a reliever in the post-season, is 1-0 in the World Series. He was credited with the Yankees' 7-4 victory over the Phillies in Game 4.
