Football dad punched by former Raider
Scott Haggerty, an Alameda County supervisor, says Brigham attacked him after the former Raiders tight end accused him of leaking the plays of their Pleasanton, Calif., pee-wee football team to an opposing coach, The San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday.
Haggerty told the newspaper he was Brigham's assistant coach on the team, for which his son played, until Brigham fired him. Haggerty said he watched from the stands as their team won its next game 38-0. But, he added, the losing coach from that game later joked to Brigham that "Haggerty gave me all your plays."
Haggerty said the former Raider took the joke literally and confronted him, allegedly punching him in the head and putting him in a neck brace, the Chronicle reported.
Pleasanton Police Sgt. Jim Knox confirmed to the newspaper that the department is investigating the incident.
The newspaper said repeated attempts to reach Brigham at numbers listed in his name were unsuccessful.
