NHL: San Jose 4, Philadelphia 1

PHILADELPHIA (UPI) -- Manny Malhotra broke a 1-1 tie in the second period with two goals Sunday, carrying San Jose to a 4-1 win over Philadelphia

Malhotra had gone 18 regular-season games without a goal before scoring twice in a span of 2:14. He lifted a backhander past Brian Boucher 7:51 into the second and then beat Boucher with a wrist shot.

Jed Ortmeyer scored an insurance goal with 3:09 to play. Thomas Greiss, making only his second start of the season, made 37 saves and did not allow a goal for the final 50 minutes.

Boucher stopped 24-of-28 shots.

Philadelphia has not beaten the Sharks in their last 10 meetings dating to 2000.
