NFL: Minnesota 12, Detroit 10

MINNEAPOLIS (UPI) -- Ryan Longwell's 26-yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining Sunday boosted the Minnesota Vikings to a 12-10 win over the Detroit Lions.

Last Monday night, Longwell booted a 30-yard field goal with 13 seconds to play to lead the Vikings to a 30-27 win over New Orleans.

Quarterback Gus Frerotte went 18-for-33 for 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while wide receiver Bernard Berrian scored on an 86-yard pass from Frerotte in the third quarter, and ended with five catches for 131 yards for the 3-3 Vikings.

Defensive end Jared Allen tackled Detroit quarterback Dan Orlovsky in the end zone for a first-quarter safety.

Orlovsky, making his first start in place of injured Jon Kitna, went 12-for-21 for 150 yards with one touchdown.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson scored on Orlovsky's 12-yard pass in the third quarter, and finished with four catches for 85 yards.

Kevin Smith added 62 yards on five carries for the Lions (0-5), whose overall losing streak grew to six straight games.
