NHL: Pittsburgh 4, Ottawa 3 (OT)

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (UPI) -- Tyler Kennedy's goal in the final 35 seconds of overtime Saturday lifted Pittsburgh to a 4-3 season-opening victory against Ottawa in Stockholm, Sweden.

The center also scored in the first 40 seconds of the first period.

Defenseman Rob Scuderi snapped a 120-game goal drought, including playoffs, at 3:56 of the third. Evgeni Malkin scored a shorthanded, unassisted goal in the second period.

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Jason Spezza led Ottawa with one goal and one assist. Two others scored once, while Filip Kuba had two assists.

Senators goalie Martin Gerber stopped 26 of 30 shots.

The teams play again Sunday as the NHL starts the 2008-09 season with four games in Europe during its first weekend.

Earlier Saturday at Prague, the New York Rangers recorded a 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
