Mark DeRosa's 20th homer this season was three-run shot in the seventh. Starting and winning pitcher Jason Marquis (10-8) hit a solo eighth-inning homer.

Derek Lee had four hits and three RBI for the NL Central-leading Cubs, who maintained a four-game lead over Milwaukee.

Cincinnati scored four runs in both the eighth and ninth innings. Jolbert Cabrera launched a ninth-inning grand slam and Paul Bako had two hits and two RBI.
