Motorcycle racer dies of crash injuries

SALT LAKE CITY (UPI) -- Cliff Gullett was going 239 mph when he lost control of his motorcycle on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats, crashed and died, authorities said. He was 47.

Tooele County sheriff's investigators said they weren't sure why the motorcycle racer from Bozeman, Mont., lost control during a time trial Wednesday, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday.

Gullett was competing in the 500cc Streamliner class, the American Motorcyclist Association said on its Web site.
