MLB: Oakland at Baltimore, ppd., rain

BALTIMORE (UPI) -- The opener of a day/night doubleheader between Oakland and the Orioles at Baltimore's Camden Yards Saturday was rained out.

The city was deluged by rains spurred by tropical storm Hanna, but weather-permitting, the second game was scheduled for 7:05 p.m. eastern time.

No makeup date for the first game was announced with neither club involved in a playoff chase.

The first game's starters were to have been Oakland's Greg Smith (6-14) and Baltimore's Garrett Olson (8-7).
