MLB: Cleveland 9, Detroit 7

DETROIT (UPI) -- Kelly Shoppach and Shin-Soo Choo hit two-run homers Wednesday and Cleveland won its 10th straight game by out-slugging Detroit 9-7.

Cleveland overcame an early deficit and took a four-run advantage into the bottom of the ninth before Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run shot to bring the Tigers within two. Detroit lost its fourth in a row.

Grady Sizemore had two RBI for the Indians, winners of five out of seven against Detroit this year.

Fausto Carmona (7-5) lasted six innings to get the win, giving up four runs on seven hits. Justin Verlander (10-14) surrendered five runs on seven hits in six innings to take the loss.

Shoppach gave Cleveland a 5-4 lead in the fourth with his homer and Choo's blast came in the seventh, making it a 7-4 game.

The Indians moved within three victories of equaling its longest winning streak ever.
