MEMPHIS (UPI) -- The Memphis Grizzlies announced Tuesday they had
signed first-round draft picks O.J. Mayo and Darrell Arthur.
Terms of the agreements weren't released by the NBA team.
Mayo, who played one season at Southern California, was the third pick
in the draft by Minnesota but ended up with Memphis as part of an
eight-player deal that also included No. 3-overall selection Kevin
Love.
Mayo averaged 20.7 points and 3.3 assists and was a finalist for the
Naismith and Wood awards.
Arthur has been traded twice since being the No. 17 pick by New
Orleans in the recent draft. The Hornets traded him to Portland, who
dealt Arthur to Houston. Memphis got the rights for Arthur in exchange
for Donte Green, the 28th-overall pick, and a 2009 second-round
choice.
Arthur averaged 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds a game as a sophomore
while helping Kansas win the NCAA basketball title.
The Grizzlies said both players were expected to take part in the NBA
Summer League, which begins Friday in Las Vegas.
