OTTAWA (UPI) -- Hockey Canada announced Monday that Saskatchewan will
be the site of the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships.
The bulk of the games will be played in Saskatoon's Credit Union
Center, which is undergoing an upgrade to add 1,000 seats for a
capacity of 12,000, The StarPhoenix newspaper in Saskatoon reported.
The balance of the games will be played in Regina's Brandt Center, the
report said.
Saskatchewan bid unsuccessfully for the games in 1999, 2003, 2006 and
for 2009, which Ottawa will host in December.
The last time Saskatchewan hosted the tournament for players between
16 and 20 was in 1991.
Canada has won the last four years. The former Soviet Union/Russia and
Canada have won a a total of 25 of the 32 annual events.
