Fan arrested after cursing Oakland pitcher

ANAHEIM, Calif. (UPI) -- A Southern California man was arrested for punching a security guard after he cursed out Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Huston Street.

The incident occurred after Tuesday night's Athletics-Angels game, The Orange County Register reported. Jeffrey Coles, 26, of Anaheim, was outside Angels Stadium while Street, who was not in uniform, was leaving with his family.

Coles, apparently unaware that Street was a ballplayer, began cursing at him. Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department said that Street tried to calm Coles down.

"That only elevated the level of profanities that the suspect was throwing at Mr. Street," Martinez said.

A security guard told Coles he had to leave and began escorting him away. Coles allegedly hit the guard in the face.

Street did not pitch Tuesday night when the Angels beat the Athletics 5-3.
