The Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers met two times during the regular season, each winning games on the road:
RANGERS 3, KINGS 1
Oct. 7, 2013 at Staples Center
New York's Brad Richards scored twice and Ryan McDonagh got a fluke 180-foot short-handed goal. With the Kings on the power play, Rangers center Brian Boyle won a faceoff in the New York zone, and defenseman McDonagh shot the puck off the boards. The puck ricocheted toward the Kings' net and a stumbling Jonathan Quick, who had lost his stick. The puck's awkward journey ended by bouncing off the Kings goalie and trickling across the goal line to make the score 3-1.
KINGS 1, RANGERS 0
Nov. 17, 2013 at New York
Tyler Toffoli scored 1:23 into the second period and Ben Scrivens, filling in for an injured Quick, stopped all of New York's 37 shots. It was the second consecutive shutout by Scrivens, who was traded later in the season when Quick returned from a groin injury.
