BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland's newest king is already sharing a throne with the former one.
Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel chose LeBron James' LRMR marketing firm in January and recently appeared in a McDonald's spot featuring James, a longtime McDonald's spokesman. The two greeted each other in the commercial by striking Heisman poses.
LRMR and Fenway Sports Management, which partnered together in 2011, are representing Manziel jointly. FSM was created in 2004 by the owner and chairman of the Boston Red Sox.
James and Manziel first met during an NBA game between James' Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. The two became fast friends.
James was asked before the draft about the possibility of Manziel landing in Cleveland.
"Wherever he lands, he'll be a heck of a football player for that franchise," James said. "They're going to get a good one. If he happens to go to Cleveland, I'll have two family members there, him and Donte Whitner."
James and Whitner, who signed with the Browns as a free agent, are longtime friends.
James was photographed on Friday wearing a Manziel Browns jersey on the Heat's team plane. James' publicist confirmed the picture was authentic.
Manziel was asked Friday if he could lure James, who can again become a free agent this summer, back to the Cavaliers.
"I don't think I can do that," he said.
