ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers' starter Miles Mikolas gave up three home runs in the first two innings as the Tampa Bay Rays got to Texas early and often, winning 10-1 Wednesday night at Globe Life Park.
Matt Joyce hit his eighth homer in the first while Sean Rodriguez and Brandon Guyer added two-run homers in the second.
Mikolas had pitched well in his previous two outings and had given up just three homers all season long. He settled down, retiring 10 batters in a row after Guyer's homer before running into trouble in the sixth and seventh.
The Rays added RBI singles in both innings to knock Mikolas out with no outs in the seventh. He gave up 10 runs on nine hits in six-plus innings.
Chris Archer fanned a career-high 12 strikeouts in seven innings.
Before the game the Rangers announced that Yu Darvish was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right-arm inflammation.
