The Detroit Tigers received good news on Justin Verlander after his MRI Tuesday.
The right-hander has no structural damage in his right shoulder and could avoid the disabled list, though he'll likely miss at least one start.
Verlander left Monday's start against the Pittsburgh Pirates after just one inning, his shortest outing as a major leaguer. He gave up five runs in the first inning en route to an 11-6 loss at PNC Park, leaving the game with right shoulder soreness. He struck out three.
Verlander, who has never been placed on the DL since debuting with Detroit in 2005, is 10-11 with a 4.76 ERA this season.
