Police: Man stole from 12 churches

New York police said a man has confessed to stealing from 12 churches and is suspected in at least two other church burglaries.

Police said Lonnie Faulk, 42, "cased" the churches he was planning to rob by attending Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings, the New York Post reported Tuesday. They said he took money from donation boxes and any other valuable items he could find.

"Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical -- he hit them all," a police source said.

Faulk was arrested Saturday when police caught him crawling out the basement window of the First

Central Baptist Church with $94 in loot. Police said he is believed to have robbed the same church Aug. 10.

Falk has been arrested 11 previous times for burglary and drug charges.
