Thieves take Atlanta Shriners' mini-cars
The burglars also stole a dune buggy, a large tool box and an air compressor, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday.
The thieves returned the next night, but fled when they spotted police in the vicinity, the newspaper said.
"We have three cars left. We think they were trying to come back and get those," past Potentate Primis James said, speaking for the Prince Hall Nabbar Temple of the Shriners, who operate celebration events for the Freemason order.
Police said they had no suspects.
"We do parades to makes kids smile. When the kids smile, the parents smile," James said.
The Shriners are attempting to raise enough money to buy new cars before the College Park Christmas parade in December. The mini-cars were also scheduled to be in several Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations, the newspaper reported.
