Alamo compound site of fed porn raid

Federal and state agents Saturday raided the Tony Alamo Christian Church compound in Arkansas as part of a child pornography investigation, officials said.

The 6 p.m. raid involved the church and neighboring homes in Fouke, The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Details of the action were not available, the newspaper said.

Word of the impending raid was accidentally disseminated to more than 50 news agencies across Arkansas Friday evening in an internal e-mail from the U.S. attorney's office in Fort Smith, the Democrat-Gazette reported.

The e-mail indicated a raid was being planned for October. The Internet-transmitted memo dealt with meetings being planned to determine the best way to deal with underage girls in the compound allegedly being used to produce child pornography, the newspaper said.
