GOP Rep.: Dem bill scarier than terrorists

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- A Republican member of Congress said Monday Americans "have more to fear" from Democratic healthcare reform than from terrorists.

Rep. Virginia Foxx said people in her North Carolina district are afraid of the Democrats' healthcare reform proposal, which could be brought to the full House for debate as soon as this week, CNN reported.

"I share that fear, and I believe they should be fearful," Foxx said, "And I believe the greatest fear that we all should have to our freedom comes from this room -- this very room -- and what may happen later this week in terms of a tax increase bill masquerading as a healthcare bill.

"I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country."

The Democratic National Committee issued a statement calling Foxx's comments "outrageous."

"Sadly, these inexplicable comments represent what is now the mainstream of a Republican Party that has been hijacked by an extremist far right-wing faction that craves ideological purity, will purge dissent, and offer nothing but reactionary opposition to progress," the statement said.

A spokesman for Foxx told CNN she had been speaking "off the cuff."

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio said "members are entitled to their opinions" and then shrugged when pressed further, CNN said.

It's good to see Republicans finally starting to speak up about how bad the bills they are being forced to vote on are. Nearly 2000 pages in any bill is enough to make a sensible person wonder what is in that bill. Republicans have given several ideas about healthcare reform which goes underreported or unreported. The biggest difference is that Americans can retain their own choice in healthcare and it will give those less fortunate healthcare in the form of tax credits and vouchers. Government take over of anything only takes away freedoms from Americans. Everyone needs to remember that there will always be complaints from the other political party about the way government runs anything. Therefore, the best solution is to keep government away from our lives. First of all, the federal government has no business even discussing takeover of healthcare. IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Health care

Can't you think straight? You are boohooing about the taxes you will have when a good health
plan is passed. Have you forgotten now that the money you and your company has to shell out goes
to the insurance companies who cleverly deprive
you of many of the benefits you deserve. When we have a universal health plan, everyone will be taken care of, your boss won't have to dig into his/her profits and start failing and you will have no health insurance to pay and that limits
your access to good medical treatment. What's a small amount in taxes to compare to what you and your company is now paying. Wake up. People in other countries think we are pretty stupid, and they are not wrong.

Running on values or just keeping bashing Pres.Obama won't win you elections. You have to run for real issues that country is concern about.

Like I said Renee learn from NY-23 Becks,Palinasts, and Rush might help you win primaries but not elections. Why did McDonell and Christie said thanks but no thanks to Palin when she ask if they wanted her to come down and campaign for them? They knew just teabaggers and right-wing nuts wouldn't help them win the election. Running on values along want win you election just bashing Pres.Obama.
Here is another fact which you guys don't mention is for over the last 30 years VA and NJ always pick the party that is not in the White House.
