Obama braces for more job losses
"We have pulled the economy back from the brink," Obama said during a White House meeting of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board. "We've got a long way to go. ... We anticipate that we're going to continue to see some job losses in the weeks and months to come."
Given the severity of the job losses occurring when 2009 began, Obama said the need to make up those losses "is going to require I think some bold, innovative action on our part and on Congress's part and on the private sector's part."
Obama didn't outline the type of innovative action needed, noting that Congress likely would begin discussions on potential tax cuts and credits that could make some difference in hiring this week, "but we want to go beyond just tax policy."
Sustained economic growth is "going to require that we look at new models for where future growth is going to come from, because one of the I think key understandings coming out of this past financial crisis is that a lot of our growth was debt-driven," Obama said. "The government is going to have to get serious about reducing our debt levels."

I do agree they were voted out because the people were sick of them. After eight years of the dems running around yelling the sky was falling and Bush was worse than Hitler, the message got out.
Now it will be your turn. People will be sick of this agenda in 2010 and 2012 and will vote your guys out to. Yes Bush spent alot of money on the wars, we all get that but thats what the federal government is for, to protects us. Its not to make sure people get extra money for programs and turn us into a welfare country. Its not to rescue the car companies because his cronies supported his presidency. O spent billions on welfare that will go down a black hole and do no good in the long run, except to buy votes. It always amazes me how many of you cant make it on your own and need the gov. to tell you everything and pay for everything. Your just weakening this country to be a nation of babies needing a mommy to make it.

ssss,
The Republicans have always blamed the Democrats for the failing economy that they were responsible for after the Democrats are voted back into power by a majority of the people. This is nothing new!

ssss,
I think perhaps you meant your last post to be to me.
The Democrats regained their majority in the House of Rep's in 2006. That's two years. The Senate remained pretty close to even until the election of 2008. Even though the Democrats had a majority in the House, they still weren't able to get much done because Bush was still able to veto anything that the moderate Republicans went along with, which he did.
In the election of 2008, the Democrats got the White House back, more of a majority in the House, and regained a very significant majority in the Senate. These Democrats didn't just take over all by themselves, they were elected by a majority of the people of this country. A majority of "we the people" who were fed up with Republican policies that bankrupt our country, and got us involved in two wars that are costing American lives for the profits of the defense industry and the oil companies (in Iraq).
I think you Republicans should spend a little more time researching FACTS, and stop listening to the lies and deceit of the right who want you to believe that they care about working class and middle class Americans.
A majority of the people of the US voted the Republicans out because they were fed up. Why can't you acknowledge that? Your side lost!
Throughout the twentieth century whenever the Republicans have controlled Washington they have destroyed the economy while the rich got richer, and the people voted the Democrats back in, and the Democrats fixed things everytime. These are the facts of history, and your denial of the facts does not make the lies true!

Untrue HHJ, When Bush was in , he had a democratic controlled House and close to a majority in the Senate for the last few years of his presidency. Thats when things started down hill. And lets not forget the reason the housing dropped like a rock, The Community Reinvestment Act started under Carter and expanded under Clinton. When Bush wanted to fix it Dodd and Franks said no everything is just fine. Dont re-write history to suit you.

Nameless,
Free enterprise is dependent on the consumer being able to consume. How are American workers supposed to be able to consume when they are losing their jobs to foreign workers and foriegn made products? When the consumer can't consume American goods, then manufacturing begins to fail, as it has. More people lose their jobs. It's a downward spiral. That is result of the free enterprise of the Bush years. Republican free enterprise. Free enterprise should benefit everyone, not just the rich.
