Boehner: Dem health reforms 'reckless'

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Healthcare reform measures supported by U.S. President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are a "reckless government takeover," a Republican leader says.

House Minority John Boehner, R-Ohio, speaking Saturday during the GOP's weekly radio and Internet address, attacked the health reform bill delivered this week by Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

"We now have a choice: we can come together to implement smart, fiscally responsible reforms to improve Americans' healthcare or we can recklessly pursue this government takeover that creates far more problems than it solves," Boehner said.

Boehner, saying "enough is enough," blasted Pelosi's "1,990-page government takeover of healthcare," warning it will "break the bank" and take away "the freedoms Americans cherish."

Instead, he said, Republicans will offer "our better solutions" to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, including the creation of state health insurance pools, allowing states to create their own "innovative reforms" and banning "junk" medical malpractice suits.

John Boehner has probably had more fifteen year old girls in his bed than most fifteen year old boys. He just has that look about him, beady eyes and all...
All you Conservatives have all those "wonderful" people on your side... Rush Limbaugh, a prescription drug addict.. Sean Hannity, a fat cat rich kid who majored in alcohol and women in college... And then there's that new one for ya'll, Glen Beck... He's almost a worse nut case than Limbaugh. Who knows where he came from. Even O'Reilly called him on some of his BS! And then there's Mike Huckaby, ex- governor of Arkansas. He used to sound like he had a little bit of sense when he was a candidate for president, but now that he is on the Fox News Channel payroll, he spews out the cr*p they pay him to say.
But all of them very rich, and probably don't even know anyone personally who has to go to bed hungry... And even if they did they would probably just say to them, "Here's a buck, go to Micky D's and get yourself a double cheeseburger, and I will get a tax deduction for my buck as a donation to a charity... (the tax deduction being the priority of course)... HA!

aohjeff,

Look what 1 billion dollars a day in Iraq did. The defense industry, Haliburton, the Bush family and the Saudis, etc.,wound up with a whole lot of those billions in their pockets. And just think, it only took about five or six years for our military in Iraq, who were really sent over there for the profit of the fat cats, to finally start getting armored vehicles that would protect them from being blown to bits or horribly maimed. And just think, it was the Bush/Cheney Republicans that slashed veterans benefits, even for the wounded from Iraq and Afganistan. And then there is the problem of such low pay for the military that many, many military personel and there families are on welfare and food stamps. And alot of the wounded are having a real hard time paying for medical care after the Republicans turned their backs on them. That's disgraceful!
None of THOSE hundreds of billions of dollars were being spent to help the people of this country, or military families, and you say, ..."Obamacare' is SUICIDE!"
The Republicans under Bush/Cheney ran up the highest national debt in history after starting with the highest budget surplus in history left by the Clinton Administration, and most of it went to their cronies, not the American people!
Record high unemployment, record high forclosures on homes, etc., etc. And let's don't forget record high bonuses for the executives in the financial industry that ran their companies bankrupt, while the Republicans looked the other way and deregulated the industry. And don't forget that the "bailout" came from the Republicans while Bush was still in office. He is the one that signed that legislation, not Obama!
The truth is the truth. The mess Omama and the Democrats are trying to get us out of is a result of Republicans being in control for eight years. NONE of it is Obama's fault! It is what it is!

aohjeff,

Bush, Cheney and the Republicans had eight years to create the mess they made, including the ones in Iraq and Afganistan. It's going to take Obama and the Democrats a little longer than 10 months to turn things around. Some things are working some things we don't know yet. It took Roosevelt and the Democrats a while to straighten out the mess the Republicans made in the twenties that resulted in the great depression. Most of what Roosevelt did worked. Some things didn't.
Same thing in the sixties, after the Republicans made a mess of the economy in the fifties. That's what Republicans do when they control the White House, House of Rep's and the Senate. And it has always taken the Democrats to get things back on track. Same thing now. Somethings are going to work and some things aren't. At least the Democrats are trying to do something other than stick to the same status quo that made the mess in the first place like the lame Republicans want to do.

casey 42 - For the record, I was registered as a Democrat for 30 years (slow learner, I guess)...and I don't just not like what the Demonicrats are doing. I'm not overly impressed with many so-called Republicans. It is way past time to get past party politics and name calling to find some real solutions to our problems. Obamacare, and virtually everything Obama has done or tried to do so far has been a fiasco or something that will lead to one.
