Palin may lure few women to McCain

MINNEAPOLIS (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate may do little to get votes from Democratic and independent women, CNN reports.

The McCain presidential campaign is clearly trying to woo voters who backed Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., as the Democratic Party candidate. When Palin appeared with McCain last Friday, she paid tribute to Clinton and the cracks in the glass ceiling, and the campaign is running commercials targeting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., that build on Clinton's 3 a.m. phone call ads.

A group called PUMA, for Party Unity My A--, supposedly represents Clinton supporters for McCain. But the group's size and reach is uncertain, CNN reported.

Allida Black, a Clinton supporter who said she plans to vote for Obama, said that her first reaction when she heard Palin would be the Republican vice presidential candidate was to laugh.

"I mean laughing not in the sense of 'Oh my God, what has he done?' but "Does he think that's really going to work?'" Black told CNN.

A Gallup tracking poll released this week fond that Obama's support among white men jumped 13 percentage points this week. His support among white women remains unchanged.

A poll in late May and early June indicated that for pro-abortion rights women, including Republicans, abortion is an overriding issue. Palin's anti-abortion rights stance is unlikely to win any of that group over.

Democrats are the only moral alternative?! Thats the funniest thing I have heard in a long time!
They definitely are'nt "for" the unborn babies, unless being "for" the babies is to not let them be born!
The one thing I do agree with that you said is that sadly democracy allows imbeciles to vote.

A government 'by the people, for the people' is exactly what communism AND Marxism are but you lump them together with Nazism as if they're the same thing by another name! Communism *is* Marxist and is the complete opposite of Nazism (which was a fascist party - far RIGHT). Socialism is a form of communism (the people together) and is on the LEFT. In U.S. politics, democrats are akin to our ruling, left wing (socialist) Labour party. Republicans are right wing - akin to the Nazis and the U.K.'s Conservative party. Learn basic politics!
'A democracy run by the elite (like England)'?!
Our democracy is no worse than yours - I should really say "is 'just as bad' as yours"; first-world nations MUST be run by an ‘elite’; only a fool would advocate having their nation run by 'everyone'. That would be anarchy, or *no* government.
The 'elite', ideally, should be those with the most political intelligence and will, social responsibility, wisdom, integrity, and morality. People being subject to base emotions such as greed however, means this is usually not possible so that the best one can get via democracy is the party which is the LEAST BAD.
Sadly, democracy allows imbeciles to vote, outnumbering the knowledgeable few, dragging the system into a lamentable popularity contest that can be swung with a final round of baby-kissing and handing out free doughnuts along the campaign trail!
Know this much at least: the Republicans are fundamentally about MONEY, *personal*/free enterprise, BUSINESS. They are NOT about paying taxes to help the disadvantaged but cutting them because the rich gain the most from tax cuts. They are Right wing and, like the Nazis, if they could, they'd shoot the weak.
Democrats are the ONLY moral alternative. They may not be ideal but they’re more to the left i.e. socialist, considerate of others, pro-society. They care; for the environment, for un-born babies, for the suffering.

I am voting for McCain, but not because of Sarah Palin, although I think she is a great choice for vice. Her being a woman in no way influences my vote just like there is no way I would have voted for Hillary just because she is a woman. That just makes women look stupid.
I think people should think long & hard before casting a vote for Obama, he is the worst possible choice! I am from Illinois and he has done absolutely nothing for this state.

Palin has a lot of guts to say no to the rich in Washington. She has already told them off about the money that they wanted to give for the bridge to no whare. The reason why was there was to many clauses in it.Like there is to many special foran intrests giving Obama money. It seems alfil funny that our gov. can track money going and coming to tararists but they can't track who Obama is getting all the overseas money from. the way Obama spends money he must be promissing special intrest somthing big don't you think.

You are right that the two parties go by different philosophies. It's been that way since the beginning of the Republic. One side wanted a Republic run by the people and the other side wanted a democracy run by the elite. (like England) Through the years, the names have changed to include Marxism, Nazism. Communisn, but the goal has always been the same. That a few elite "rule" the many. This is the goal of the Democrat party. They will do anything to keep in control. Many years ago, one Liberal Supreme Court justice stated that the American people need to be regulated because they are too "stupid" to govern themselves. That's why the "unconstitutional" CENTRAL (controlling) government has over 60,000 pages of regulations on the American people. That's why I will not vote Democrat. I believe in a government "by the people and for the people" CENTRAL government control is unconstitutional and needs to go. It's time for another Revolution -- not an election.
