It really disappointing that this great country can not grow beyond prejudice and hatred. We are considered to be the country where everyone wants to
flock to...but we are small minded, we can not focus on the issues.Race is not the issue. We should be encouraging our children whom ever they might to be the BEST...since is supposed be part of OUR motto. Whomever is the best person for the job that is where all support should go...it is as simple as that. 1865, we are in 2008, unfortunately we still have a lot to learn. It is so sad.

Yes, give him and all African Americans the 20 acres and a mule that was promised from president Lincoln, with inflation and interest from 1865, that would be a little over 100 grand per African American in America today.

Crone, I differ with you most of the time based on issues.
This time your racist bent came through loud and strong and it is just too much! "Give him a mule and 20 acres and send him on his way" may sound clever and cute to you, but it is extremely offensive to me.
Please stick to the issues.

McCain
To all of you Obama haters who would rather stay home rather than vote for him is stupid to think McCain is going to do something wonderful for this country. And where is his experience? I don't think he has ever served as president of these United States. With all of his bad view and non chalant attitude. I guess a 100 year troop release is best for this country hun? Remember this guy was a war prisoner. Prisoner itself gives him a lot of hope for this country...I don't think so.

Obama
Oboy! AnneB-IL is finally noticing what I have harped on for months and months: Obama's lack of credentials and previous work accomplishments. Now that it is too late, and that man has the Democratic nomination, someone is beginning to say: "Hey, wait a minute... what has he done to distinguish himself?" Obviously, nothing. He'd like to ride the race card and the guilt card into the White House. I say, give him 20 acres and a mule and send him on his way.

Where the Democrat party has it all wrong is they think women voters were for Hillary Clinton during the primary because she is a woman. They do not give us credit for voting for her because of her experience, her positions on the issues, and her ability to lead this country on day one! When you evaluate a candidate on their judgement, experience, and positions on issues, then John McCain is heads and tails above Obama. He has experience, he is a moderate - not a far left-wing liberal, he has shown good judgement, he will be able to lead our country in the turbulent times ahead. We face very major problems in the years ahead - not just Iraq, but Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan and more. We need to be drilling here in the U.S for oil so we become energy-independent. We can't afford the social programs that Obama is saying he will implement - our deficit is currently too high - I have seen one economist's estimate that we will have a $1 trillion dollar deficit under Obama. I know that I can't afford the tax increases that would be necessary under Obama to pay for all his programs. We cannot afford to put a person with a total of 143 days in the Senate into the position of leader of the free world. Every time he gets into office, he starts running for the next higher office. It would be nice to see him actually work at his job so we would have some postions to evaluate him by. To think that someone with so little experience has the arrogance to assume he can be president shows a side of him that we should be aware of and be concerned about. It's his arrogance that will be his downfall - Bush is arrogant, Obama is arrogant. Neither put the good of the country ahead of themselves! I will not stay home - I will vote for McCain. He is our only hope!
