Baby Walrus Survives Hurricane Sandy
Mitik, the orphaned baby walrus, still received 24-hour care during Hurricane Sandy. Staff stayed with the walrus even when the aquarium flooded. Due to health issues, Mitik needs around-the-clock care, and the staff didn't let the hurricane stop them. Once he's completely healed, Mitik will join the two other walrus' at the aquarium: Kulu and Nuka. The Wildlife Conservation Society hope that sparks fly between Mitik and Kulu, and they can give the aquarium even more little babies.
