Tip: Red Thread on Lawns

Late winter lawns of bluegrass and fescue in mild areas often have rusty red leaf grass tips creating brown circular areas on the wet grass. Red thread is a fungal disease that thrives in cool (50F), wet weather. Fertilize the lawn with nitrogen, mow off the red tips and make sure the lawn has regular deep waterings to control this disease.
