NEWARK, N.J. (UPI) -- Authorities at a New Jersey airport said a dachshund chase across the hub's runways ended when the dog's owner was let off a plane to capture her canine.

Port Authority police said Henry the dachshund escaped from a Lufthansa plane while it was being unloaded around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at Newark Airport and ran around the tarmac for more than an hour before he was located by officers, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Police were unable to coax the dog into allowing himself to be caught and officials eventually allowed his owner, a Mercer County, N.J., woman, to get off her plane and call the dog to her.

The canine ran into his owner's arms almost immediately, police said.

It was unclear whether any flights were disrupted by the canine's escape and ensuing chase.
