Dads ticketed for soccer game fight

WAUKESHA, Wis. (UPI) -- Two Waukesha, Wis., men, one an off-duty police officer, were issued citations after they got into a fight at their daughters' soccer game.

Court records said Jeffrey Perlewitz, 47, a 20-year veteran of the Waukesha police force, and Ralph Newcomb Jr., 47, were each ticked $199 for the non-criminal offense after they got into a fight at the June 4 soccer game that escalated to the point where referees suspended the match, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Wednesday.

A report by Waukesha County sheriff's deputies said Perlewitz was heard yelling instructions to his daughter to "get in front of her and slap her if you need to. Just slap her," leading a female parent to tell him his words were inappropriate.

Perlewitz then allegedly called the woman a "fat lady" and the insult led Newcomb to enter the argument and he told the off-duty officer to pick on someone else. The men argued until Newcomb raised an elbow to block what he thought was an oncoming punch but instead struck the other man in the eye, he told investigators.

Dad's Ticketed

This is completely ridiculous. What a role model. A police officer! Come on. It's a game and parents like that are why kids don't want to play. What ever happened to protect and serve? At least the children should be taught right from wrong. I would be embarrassed if he were my father or husband. Yes, I am a parent and I would NEVER condone violence like that. It's been on the news here, in Rochester, nY that one of the guys I graduated with was killed over a softball game. How's that for competition?
