If you are a working parent, ocassionaly take a day off from work or even half a day to pick up your kid from school early. (Make sure that they are not missing anything important) and take them for a pizza/ice cream. This will make them feel special. Talk about stuff they enjoy and stuff that's happening with you at work. This is a great time to build a bond with your kid and these are times that they will always cherish.

I make it a point to do this at least once in two months and it is like a date!
