Iran youth executions grow in number
Two hangings Wednesday brought to 232 the number of Iranian executions this year, The Times of London reported Thursday. Only much more populous China, with 407 last year, tops Iran, says Amnesty International.
A July announced crackdown on "immoral behavior" has led to concern, particularly for Iran's growing number of youth facing execution.
Human Rights Watch said Iran has hanged at least 26 juveniles since 2005, ensuring that it "leads the world in executing juvenile offenders ... Everywhere else, countries are moving to end this abhorrent practice, but in Iran the numbers of death sentences seems to be increasing."
Iran defends its execution policy however.
The national police chief, Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqaddam, claims that the number of violent crimes, including murder, kidnap and armed robbery, has fallen by 50 per cent over the past two years.

Oh for gawd's sake, Bridget. Go lay down before you hurt someone. These are young people who have done something that would be considered a minor infraction in the rest of the world. Keep in mind also that the majority of these hangings are done in a very slow manner by placing the noose and usng a crane to lift the person off the ground. They stangle to death. This is something that should be condemned by the civilized world.

well, it was back in the late 70's, that iran wanted a change. there islamic reveloution, they ousted the shah, millions fleed, they are the ones that call themselves persians, aka iranian. so depending on age this is now a 2 generation that got what there grand or great grand parents,to thank for this, it was away with the shah for forcing his people to get in time with the rest of the world, or the orginasl kohemines, religious government. its not over the yoth will revolt.

I can see why Iran has a low crime rate! Why dont we do this here? Why is it everytime that one of these little darlings do something that people come out of the woodwork to defend him? Isnt it bad enough that Seattle and every major city has a gang problem? And innocent people have been killed by some of these gangs..I dont see any news coverage on this.So why dont we ship off to an island? I am a senior in seattle and we are barely making it here.Lets cut some of these silly programs like this yoga stuff and junk.How come noone encourages reading.writing and arithmetic that basic skills everyone needs to get ahead? But yoga! Why does it do! Will it make me a senior win the Mega Millions? It is does,send the formula to all of us at the center because the rent just went up again! And lets start remembering us seniors! We like to have fun to!
