Kennywood closes ride after malfunction
The ride, which features a 40-person seatbed flung 40 feet upward by rotating arms, stopped in an upside-down position Saturday night, trapping the head-over-heels riders 10 feet above the ground. They stayed there for 10 minutes while crews scrambled to get them down, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Monday.
"They were never in any danger at all," Kennywood spokeswoman Mary Lou Rosemeyer told the newspaper. "Obviously, it's uncomfortable to be upside-down for that length of time."
The ride remained closed because technicians hadn't determined what caused the malfunction.
