New hunt begins for Nazis' 'Dr. Death'
Aribert Heim, 94, charged with killing hundreds of inmates at the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria, is believed to be hiding in Chile or Argentina, The Jerusalem Post reported Monday.
Chief Nazi hunter Efraim Zuroff notes that Heim's daughter lives in Chile and is most likely to be in contact with her father or have information about his whereabouts.
"We are going into her backyard," Zuroff told the Post Sunday before leaving Los Angeles for South America.
Zuroff says a $1 million bank account in Heim's name remains active in Berlin proving the war criminal is alive.
The German and Austrian governments along with the Wiesenthal Center are offering a reward of $500,000 for information leading to Heim's arrest and prosecution.
