U.N. official in Somalia attacked, dies
Osman Ali Ahmed, head of the U.N. development program in Mogadishu, was shot as he left the mosque after evening prayers, CNN said. He died of his wounds at a nearby hospital.
Ahmed apparently was the target of the attack, an official with the U.N. program told CNN. No one has claimed responsibility for the shooting.
A family member said Ahmed's son and another man were wounded, Somaliweyn Media Center reported.
The shooting occurred a day after an explosion killed a Somali official, his wife and four other people in Mogadishu, the media center reported. On June 21, Hassan Mohamed Ali, head of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees' office in Mogadishu, was kidnapped from his home on the outskirts of the city.
