African Americans may feel that history shows that previous generations of them were deprived of freedoms because of slavery and racial prejudice following emancipation and the Civil War. They may also feel that they have paid a disproportionately high price for freedom. The fact is that the issues facing the country are not as simple as the insignificance of race, gender, sexual orientation and a woman's right to choose, which for so many years have been the fuel that has ignited the Democrats and outraged the majority of common-sense Americans, regardless of party affiliation.
Until we see some concrete proposals regarding the substantive issues that ought to concern those who would head the Federal Government, we will have serious doubts and questions regarding their intents and purposes in seeking election.
We are divided because they are not contemplative of the serious issues which face us. All the bickering is petty and inconsequential but indicative of where they are at. Why would anyone take them seriously?

No way is it irrelevant whom Obama chose as a spiritual advisor for decades. His shift now, is merely an attempt at damage control, and would have never occurred had pastor Wright not spewed his radical nonsense, revealed only because his close association with Obama brought him under more intense scrutiny. People choose a church that they are comfortable with, one that shares commonalities with one's philosophies and spiritual position. We must wonder what other radical ideas Obama is aligned with, by association.
