Is the world addicted to a psychoactive drug?

In North America, 90% of adults consume caffeine daily. A psychoactive substance is defined as a chemical substance that acts primarily upon the central nervous system where it alters brain function, resulting in temporary changes in perception, mood, consciousness and behaviour.
