Home Zone: Electronic Door Makes Sure Only Your Pets Enter and Exit
Maggie Reed
You want your pet to be able to come in and out of the house without
bringing in the neighbor's dog or wild critters. Plexidor Pet Doors
offers the Plexidor Electronic Pet Door that opens exclusively for
your pets with a wearable pass-code collar key. It's like having a
personalized garage door opener, except your pets have the opener.
"Having a technological tool like this is great for the health and comfort of the pet," said Joe Ambrose, president of Plexidor. "It allows the pets to go outside when they have to, not when you are able to let them out.
"For the pet owner, it is very helpful in preventing pet messes in the house from the pet having to hold it too long."
The door works with programmed collar keys that clip on your pet's collar. The technology in the door reads and recognizes the code as the pet approaches the door and allows entrance. The pet door panel slides up and down like a mini-garage door.
The collar key requires no batteries and doesn't limit the number of pets that can use the door. The tag is waterproof, shockproof and rugged.
Rugged, rustproof and energy efficient, the door will not blow open with the wind like most flap doors for pets. It is made with aluminum framing and high-impact ABS panels, the same material used for football helmets. A safety mechanism keeps the door from closing if it is obstructed, thus preventing pinched paws and tails.
Available in bronze or white, the Plexidor Electronic Pet Door comes in various sizes to match the size of any pet. Prices range from $129 to $800, depending on the size and model.
