ANG MO KIO, Singapore (UPI) -- A kitten found stuck on a ledge 12 stories up a building in a town in Singapore was rescued by animal care officers.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Singapore shared video of the daring rescue as workers reached out of the building's windows to secure the stranded kitten.

"When our rescue officer, Yao Huang, arrived at the block, there were already two officers from Ang Mo Kio North neighbourhood police center there," the Society wrote. Yao Huang proceeded to the unit on the 12th story, while the police officers remained on the ground floor, with an opened blanket, to assist with the rescue mission.

A call from a concerned onlooker prompted the society to send help to rescue the kitten from the perilous position.

Rescue workers used a long pole with an adjustable rope to capture the frightened kitten, who initially backed itself into a corner away from the tool.

Rescuers eventually managed to secure the rope around the kitten's neck as they carefully pulled it up to safety.

Before leaving the scene the rescue officer provided the building owner with some tips to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.

"The owner was advised by our rescue officer, to mesh up the windows and gate, to prevent the kitten from slipping out of the unit and/or falling out of the windows," the Society wrote. Cats and kittens are curious animals and they risk falling out of an open window by simple acts such as chasing a bird that was flying past.
