MANSFIELD, Texas (UPI) -- A 30-year-old cat from Texas was officially given the distinction of being the "Oldest living cat" on Monday.

The Guinness World Records confirmed that Scooter the Siamese cat from Mansfield, Texas is the world's oldest living cat.

Scooter, who was born on March 26, 1986, has lived with his owner Gail Floyd since he was a kitten.

"He likes to see new places and he likes people," Floyd said of the impressive feline.

Floyd added that he has been to 45 states and is still spry enough to wake her up at 6 a.m. every morning.

Scooter is almost a decade younger than fellow Texan and the oldest cat of all time Creme Puff, who lived to be 38.

His veterinarians say that despite being treated for a broken leg since 2014, Scooter is "quite an amazing cat, with a strong will to live."
