SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) -- A woman in San Francisco was reunited with her cat six months after she was forced to evacuate during a wildfire.

The woman, identified only as Nancy, said she lost her cat during the Valley fire that swept across California in September, spanning more than 70,000 acres and destroying hundreds of homes.

Middletown Animal Hospital shared a photo of Nancy and her pet "Muscat" after she found the cat during a chance encounter months later.

"On Thursday she was driving close to her house and saw a cat that looked like Muscat so she stopped and he came to her!" The Facebook post stated.

Nancy quickly got in touch with Teresa Axthelm of the Middletown Animal Hospital, who told her to immediately bring the cat in to get vaccinated and examined free of charge.

"She was very excited to have him back," Axthelm told KCBS. So many people are still looking for their pets, we have a bulletin board here, you know. Missing pets, dogs and cats. To give anybody some hope, it's obviously a great thing.
