EAGLE RIVER, Alaska (UPI) -- An Alaska woman shared video of her "fraidy-cat" house cat rallying her courage to scare a black bear off her owner's porch.

The video, posted to YouTube by Eagle River resident Darlis Elliot, shows 2-year-old Savannah cat Nani facing down a black bear through the home's glass back door Sunday afternoon.

"The bear came up our front drive way and walked around the house to the back," Elliott told KTUU-TV. We were all kind of watching him as he came up the back porch and that's when Nani saw him.

Nani crouched down as if stalking the much larger animal and the two beasts stared each other down for a moment before the cat lunged at the window, causing the startled bear to jump back and fall off the porch.

"We were all really surprised that she lunged at him, but we were more surprised that it scared him enough to fall off the porch," Elliott said.

Elliot said the em-bear-assed animal hasn't shown its face in the neighborhood since learning to fear Nani.

"She's really such a fraidy-cat most of the time, I don't know what got into her. She probably wouldn't have lunged if we weren't standing right behind her," Elliot said.
