Toronto vaccine line forms before dawn
The early risers told The Toronto Star they were concerned about long lines and early clinic closures reported last week when the vaccinations were offered.
"I didn't think we'd be earlier than everyone else," said a woman identified only as Megan, who kept her two children, ages 12 and 9, out of school to get the vaccine. "This is the only day I could come."
Toronto, and other cities in Ontario, have received just 25 percent of the vaccine initially expected, so only high-risk groups such as young children, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems were eligible to receive the vaccine Monday, The Star reported.
Residents, however, were not being asked to prove their eligibility or provide a doctor's note, authorities said.
