Cigarette packages to show graphic photos
The new packages are to be introduced next month to illustrate the health risks of smoking, the federal Department of Health announced Friday.
The graphic photos replace previous written warnings introduced in 2003, although the messages "Smoking kills" will continue to appear on the front of packages, The Independent reported Saturday.
Smoking, the leading cause of death in England, causes the premature death of more than 87,000 Britons each year, the British newspaper reported, noting Forest, a smokers' lobby group, has criticized the new warnings as "unnecessarily intrusive" and "gratuitously offensive."

Cigarettes
I've heard of Canada doing that at one time on their cigarette packages and I heard that it did actually make a difference as smokers looking at the horrific pictures on the packs made them think about the hazards of smoking. I think, whatever helps put that little bit of a seed of information in your head will hopefully fester into something positive somehow. I quit smoking for 18 long years and honestly there wasn't one day in all those years that I didn't at least think of smoking. It was always with me. Then, without notice, unfortunately I got super stressed out and I started again. Now it's been 3 years and hopefully I will be quitting again soon. All I know, is it put me right back where I had left off. :(

Cigarettes!!!
In my opinion, if we could have a picture put in front of us for every bad thing we put in our bodies. Just to see what it all does to our insides. I think we all would stop and think for a minute.

In response to Lela: that's not necessary. People see themselves in the mirror every day. If that doesn't do it, nothing will. However, smokers don't see their own lungs everytime they go to light up. They need to see some evidence of what they're doing to themselves and innocent bystanders.
