Vitamins suspected of sickening customers
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health officials found that users of Total Body Formula were suffering hair loss, fingernails falling out, nausea, joint pain, diarrhea and other symptoms. The liquid supplement is one of more than two dozen that in the past year have been the subject of recalls or federal Food and Drug Administration safety warnings, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Sunday.
Some batches of Total Body Formula and Total Body Mega Formula have been found to contain hazardous amounts of the minerals selenium and chromium. The company faces lawsuits from former customers alleging they were poisoned, with possible long term impacts, by the supplement.
But industry representatives say problems such as those with Total Body Formula are rare.
"The overwhelming majority of dietary supplements on the market are safe and they do what they claim to do," said Andrew Shao of the Council for Responsible Nutrition.

I have read that a certain diet supplement caused someone to have leukemia. This particularly happened to young aspiring Filipino actor George Schulze. News has it that he got leukemia when he was in his sophomore year in high school and said that he got it from diet supplements he was taking when he was still active in the gym. He is now 18 and chemotherapy consumes most of his time.
