Tip: Cage Tomatoes

National Gardening Association
Vigorous tomato varieties need to be supported to keep plants and fruit off the ground. For the simplest support construct a 6-foot-high, 3-foot-diameter cylindrical wire cage around the plants and anchor it to the ground.

You might search out farm supply stores, those that cater to farmers and ranchers rather than retail home supply stores.

I had written a comment about my solution/alternative to wire vages but it was too long. I've sent it to the editor for possible future article. In the meantime, look on page 5 or 6 of the photo gallery for my tomato plants in cages made from PVC pipe.
