You obviously have a winning position here with advanced pawns, knight, rook and queen all bearing down on the uncastled Black king. What’s the best way to finish him off?

Solution:

The game, Erler-Packroff, Correspondence, Germany, 1988, started out this way: 1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Nd5 3.d4 d6 4.f4 Bf5 5.Nf3 e6 6.Bd3 Bxd3 7.Qxd3 c5 8.0–0 cxd4 9.f5! Nc7? [A defense could be had with 9...Nc6 10.fxe6 fxe6 11.Ng5 Qd7 12.exd6 (12.Nf7 Nxe5) 12...Bxd6 13.Rf7 Be7 14.Rxg7 0–0–0] 10.Ng5 h6? [10...Nc6] See Diagram 11.fxe6! [11.Nxf7 Kxf7 12.fxe6+ Kg8!] 11...hxg5 12.Qf5 (12.exf7+ Kd7! ) Black Resigned as after: 12...Qe7 13.exf7+ Kd8 14.Bxg5 wins the queen. The weak f7 square proves fatal yet again.
