BookDaily.com Goes Live!

It took about a year -- and a lot of blood, sweat and tears from our
web designer and programmer (being only slightly dramatic) -- but
finally this week, ArcaMax.com
launched BookDaily.com.

With BookDaily, the name says it all. It's a place where you can browse and search for as many as 60,000 books and select first chapters of these books you want to read. We based the site on a "Read Before Buying" model. The Daily part -- you can sign up to get a chapter by email daily so you don't have to read all 60,000 books at once (drum roll...).
Below is the press release we are sending out to media. Any related blogs or news services are welcome to run this release. Matter of fact, we'd love it if you did run it!
Sample Books Before You Purchase Them, Says ArcaMax.com
Newport News (VA) May 27, 2009 -- ArcaMax Publishing, Inc., is pleased to announce the launch of BookDaily.com -- where book readers can browse, search and read first chapters from a selection of more than 60,000 titles.
"Our mission with this site was to create a way for readers to sample books before buying them," said Scott Wolf, ArcaMax Publishing CEO. "We also wanted to have the best variety of free book content on the Internet. We believe 60,000 titles is a great start."
BookDaily combines book sampling with email technology, allowing readers to “shelve” and receive a first chapter per day by email. This way, a reader can browse and search large lists of books. Any title of interest along the way can be added to the reader's sample bookshelf. Readers may also read an unlimited amount of free sample chapters at any time on the site.
ArcaMax Publishing (www.arcamax.com), a leading provider of online news and entertainment, is the parent site for BookDaily. BookDaily launched Memorial Day weekend and received more than 16,000 page views generating 3500 email subscriptions and 3566 visits. Readers are enjoying first chapters from popular authors such as Stephen King, Stephenie Meyer, Dan Brown, and many more.
Currently ArcaMax.com has more than 5 million email newsletter readers in its 70 publications -- including popular syndicated features such as Garfield, Dear Abby, and The New Yorker cartoons.
"We promoted the site to current ArcaMax subscribers, and we are very pleased with traffic and newsletter subscriptions," Wolf said. "We came up with BookDaily technology based on what we do successfully at ArcaMax, which is sending out free content by email."
The company also hopes to form partnerships with publishers and authors, Wolf added. "The Internet has become a great place for talent to be discovered. We hope publishers and authors will find our site as a perfect place to get more readers." If a reader wants to read the complete version of a book once the first chapter is finished, BookDaily includes purchase links to the books below each sample.
BookDaily is currently accepting author biographies, interviews, book trailers and related media in furthering enhancing the reader’s experience and providing an opportunity for authors to feature their works.
BookDaily.com is a book sampling site for readers and is a property of Arcamax Publishing, Inc. Arcamax Publishing, Inc. is the preeminent provider of family-friendly news and fun on the Internet, also offering daily recipes, parenting tips, popular comics, and more–- available free with an email subscription.
