Jeff, you sound like you're the Mother this time. Yes, you're right! All the work and worry seems to always fall upon the Mom and/or hostess for the holidays! Now, do you think you could do us a favor and refrain from explaining everything every day? Save your explanations for special occasions or when they really are hard to understand. I knew you'd understand!:)

Explanation

Having finished the Hallowe'en rituals, the children have already turned their thoughts to what they consider to be the next major holiday (excluding Thanksgiving, perhaps they practice it on the Canadian date?) and are enthralled to begin preparing for it. The humour comes from their boundless enthusiasm for the holidays, which would bring upon an absurdly long period of "holiday spirit" if it were totally satiated, and which has clearly somewhat exasperated their mother who always seems to be doing these things while the father is elsewhere.

The kids only like holidays where they benefit. They love Halloween because of the candies and Christmas for the presents. That's why they skipped Thanksgiving.
