"Days of Our Lives" is getting passionate as two former stars from the now defunct soap "Passions" join the cast. Galen Gering (Luis) will play an FBI Agent who comes to Salem working on a special case. Eric Martsolf (Ethan) will be taking on the role of Brady Black and will return to Salem to settle unresolved issues with Chloe. (Brady is John's son.) Kyle Lowder, who created the role of Brady, is now seen as Rick on "Bold and Beautiful." Gering will first appear in Salem at the end of October, and Martsolf mid-November.

Get out your banjos. It is time for another chorus of the "story line dictated" blues. "Guiding Light's" Nicole Forester (Cassie) tapes her last airdate this week. Her last appearance will be during November sweeps. Forester replaced Laura Wright, who joined "General Hospital" as Carly. As for Forester, who is pregnant in real life, she is slated to marry her boyfriend, Paul Brown, in October. The baby is due in February. Forester had not told GL producers she was pregnant.
One of the best daytime practical jokes occurred during the tenure of a former GL producer. An actress who was really pregnant told the producer the good news. He offered heartfelt congratulations. An hour later another actress came in and said she was expecting. He still offered congrats but was worried as to how he would handle his two stars' plots while they were expecting. For the next five hours every actress on the show announced they were pregnant. His "glad to hear the news" sounded less sincere as the day wore on. At the end of the day, Charita Bauer (Bertha), who was well past childbearing age, revealed she was pregnant. The producer knew he had been had. He laughed until he was told that two of his leading ladies really were pregnant.

"Guiding Light" is bringing back a core character. Shayne Lewis, son of Reva and Josh, returns to the show in December. Jeff Branson, who was given little airtime or story line when he returned to the role of Jonathan Lavery on "All My Children," has the role.

Great news for Rick Hearst (Ric, "General Hospital") fans. The daytime Emmy award-winning actor has signed a new contract. There had been lots of rumors that the character was being axed. That would have been a waste; Hearst and his GH character are so multi-layered that losing him would have hurt the show. Perhaps the sparks between Claudia (Sarah Brown) and Ric will ignite.

Young and Restless is the only one I watch when I can and have missed some this past week or two. I was really hoping to get an update on it as it's my one and only favorite!
